The legend of one of Sydney’s oldest clubs: Club 77

For over 15 years, one Sydney club has stood the test of time. With over six years of lockouts and a never-ending gauntlet of COVID restrictions, Club 77 on William Street has remained a spot for unfiltered clubbing culture over the last decade alone.

Generations have stepped off the often dull main road and down into its dark, pulsating interior to be met with a sanctuary that provides a direct-to-your-soul electronic experience like no other.

To even begin to list the parties and DJs, both local and international that have curated and played until the early hours of a Friday, Saturday or Sunday would be a task within itself.

To be totally honest, Stoney Roads wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for venues like Club 77 that allowed you to be whoever you were in a creative, passionate and safe space for all.

In an effort to understand just how Club 77 is saving the night we spoke with a couple of people who know it better than most.

Watch below our chat with current owner Dane Gorrel, Sydney promoter for over 15+ years Tim Poulton and thriving techno producer Made In Paris.

This video was made with help from our good friends at Jagermeister. You can watch Episode 1 on ‘Record Collecting’ right here and stay tuned for Episode 3.
