Someone Recreated The Zelda Soundtrack Using Only Analog Synths

As one of the most iconic videogames in history, it was only a matter of time until Zelda’s timeless soundtrack was modernised… Kinda.

The original soundtrack, recorded by Japanese composer Koji Kondo in 1986 upon the game’s initial release, has been remade by a Texas based musician, Will Patterson, using only analog synthesizers.

This impressive effort, that Patterson has dubbed Switched On: Zelda – A Link To The Past, is the first in a series he has started that takes classic 16-bit soundtracks and reimagines them. He has noted that he will be remaking Donkey Kong County, EarthBound and Secret Of Mana next.

You can purchase the 9-track project from Bandcamp, with Patterson stating that all proceeds will go to Kondo and Nintendo. Alternatively, you can stream it below right now. How did he do?
