Adobe Is Creating Software That Can Directly Edit Your Speech

With constant and massive advancements in video and photography – like virtual reality, 360 degree video, bigger and smaller sized lenses all with amazing depth – it’s understandable that by comparison audio doesn’t seem to have come as far technologically, until now. Adobe have just come out with some pretty exciting developments in audio editing that seem so obvious it’ll have you saying “man why didn’t I think of that!”

Simply called VoCo, the technology allows you to edit someone’s speech simply by using an existing audio clip and typing in what you’d like to hear them say. From there, it’ll cut the words together using similar sounds from the original clip, and voila! Incriminating testimonials and evidence.

While there are a whole bunch of ethical issues that might arise out of using this, there’s also a heap of fun to be had. Remixes will become much more varied and interesting with the ability to completely change vocals and samples in such a huge way. Once the application actually becomes available, a detail which Adobe are yet to share, no doubt it’ll have a huge impact on all things audio editing.
