It looks like Flume ain’t the type of guy to listen to his own music on repeat or perhaps at all, revealing that he is “kind of bored” of his new album ‘Skin’.
Speaking with InTheMix recently, Harley expressed an understandable truth for any creative, being that when you focus on one thing for too long, you simply get over it.
“Now that I’ve put ‘Skin’ out, I’m like… awesome! I’ve done my big, grandiose, clean record, with lots of big sawtooth sounds.”
“Now I’m kind of bored of it, and I want to do lots of more sample-based stuff, like actual world sounds. So, like, maybe a vocal that’s been recorded and make it into a chord. I kinda want to go a little more lo-fi, I guess. But that’s how it works – you get excited about one thing, then you go to the opposite for a bit.”
He then elaborates on what he plans to do for his future project, saying “I’m gonna go to national parks, take my surfboard, by myself and just go surfing and … write another album in that. That’s the plan.”
I, for one, am still thoroughly enjoying ‘Skin’, but it comes as no surprise that Flume is already making rough plans for his next album. The bloke oozes talent and needs to get it out there one way or another.
