Last week saw Musikmesse, Frankfurt’s annual international trade fair for musical instruments, sheet music, production and marketing take place. There, British speaker manufacturer Funktion-One (whose speakers have no doubt soundtracked your best live music experiences) announced a new high end DJ mixer in collaboration with Formula Sound, the FF6.2.
The FF6.2 has six channels in total, with four-band full-kill EQs, and high and low-pass filters, meaning there’s a whole lot that can be done with combining each of these together to get some different filtering effects going. Output to the booth has it’s own level meter, and has a mono option with pan control, which means that cuing and monitoring can be split between the right and left sides of the headphones – a really sick and logical idea. Of course, just about everything that can be, is gold plated too. Check the full list of specs over at Funktion-One’s website, there’s so much more detail to be had.
That may not mean much to most people – and though most people say that they can DJ, they’re not into it this far. Funktion-One plan to release the FF6.2 later this year, with a hefty price tag of €4,489 (AUD6779.96 as of right now). Is it worth it? Or is this the case of a brand name bumping up the price? Time will tell.
