Two Famous Sydney Clubs Have Been Shut Down

Two notorious exotic dance venues, Bada Bing and Dreamgirls, have been ordered for long term closure.

The King Cross based venues came under fire recently after Police raids revealed illicit drug use and illegal bar operations in the nightclub’s, now resulting in their forced closure at least 6 months.

The Independant Liquor and Gaming Authority revealed the fate of the popular night spots yesterday in a news release, stating they’re “satisfied that serious breaches of the Act have occurred, including prohibited drug supply, breaches of CCTV requirements and licence conditions designed to prevent strippers from being physically assaulted by patrons, and that members of outlaw motorcycle gangs have been given access to the premises in breach of Kings Cross requirements.”

With this, Dreamgirls has been closed for 6 months from 1 February, or “until persons acceptable to the Authority are confirmed as the licensee and/or approved manager; a suitable venue drug control policy has been provided; and that building works and CCTV coverage designed to restrict and monitor access to Level 1 of the building is completed.”

Much the same for Bada Bing, however the Authority states further long term conditions may apply on Bada Bing’s license, including:

-A requirement for a venue drug policy to be developed in consultation with NSW Police.

-No staff with liquor or prohibited drug convictions to be employed at the venue.

-Patrons are not allowed to access Level 2 of the building or an internal stairway connecting Levels 1 and 2 except as an emergency exit.

-CCTV cameras are to provide constant surveillance of the entry to the stairwells at Levels 1 and 2 of the building.
