Gorillaz co-founder Jamie Hewlett has confirmed the bands return when he posted new artwork on Thursday and later replied to a keen fan with the news we’ve all been waiting for – ‘Yes, Gorillaz Returns’.

There were rumours October last year of a possible reunion when fellow founder Damon Albarn spilled that his next release could be that of the darker cartoon group.

It also didn’t help that James Blake decided to remix a Gorillaz classic under his Harmonix alias in November that only further stirred up the excitement.

The new artwork features simple lines of our favourite leader Murdoc with his cheeky grin and pokey eyes as well as a full colour image of Noodle.

There hasn’t been an official release date set but will be a triumphant return since their fifth studio effort ‘The Fall’ that was dropped way back in 2011.
