There must be close to a million Michael Jackson remixes out there, add to that re-works, covers and whatever else people are doing with the king of pops work and it’s a busy place to cut through and create something imaginative.

Cue young artist Haywyre (Hay-wire?) who’s take on “Smooth Criminal” has set the bar a whole lot higher in what he defines as a re-interpretation due to the amount of new material added on top of the original.

“…re-interpreting a great musicians track can be controversial. Most of the time a balance between material from the original track and new material is expected. My remixes have always contained way more new material than content from the original track; hence I felt it wasn’t appropriate to call this work a remix.”

The results are nothing short of groovy as he absolutely slays the re-work with his fingers running up and down a buff looking keyboard at lightening speed with the video and its multiple angles bringing to life the actual experience of the song rather than just listening to it. Although we’re not sure of the technical difficulty of this, we feel even Michael would be proud to see and hear this.

Currently this is the only video on there but word has it more and more of these ‘performances’ will be uploaded in coming weeks, score!

No doubt big things coming from Haywyre in the future.
