In the lead up to the WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던 mixtape, Yaeji has dropped a funky-ass single titled ‘Waking Up Down’.

The new cut is complete with an anime video that works with the theme of lyrics and her nuance trickery with the word ‘down’. The tone of the song is very much set to that signature Yaeji understatedness that really makes it pop. It sounds so effortless in the sense of how less can feel like more with her soothing voice surfing a nice bassy drum pattern.

It’s been no small feat with the forthcoming mixtape taking two years to put together. Featuring artists including Nappy Nina, YonYon, trenchcoat and more, this track and video drop is the first taste of the body of work.
