Becoming a world class selector is no easy feat. For most of them out there, the life of a DJ involves years of hard-yakka, performing in grungy clubs and bars, networking with the right people and honing your craft. This is not the case for LYTT, an amateur DJ couple who instead of working to world tour status, simply want your money to kickstart it. Fair enough.
As reported by Mixmag, Amberly and Matt are a DJ duo with a key demographic being “EDM fans aged between 18 to 24”, who are looking to raise over $100,000USD in order to tour the globe… Right. The money raised will see the pair tour and perform in Ibiza, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zurich, Rome, Florence, Milan, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo, Sydney, Miami, São Paulo and Buenos Aires over the course of a year.
The best part? Their ‘Risk and challenges’ section describes LYTT as already having the big connections, but “The problem they are facing is they need to build their following and grow more of a fan base to start pulling in big money.”
In return for your hard earned cash, LYTT promise donators a number of things. The highest donation, being $7500, will see you receive a DJ lesson and equipment from LYTT. How good! But if that is out of your price range, $100 will serve you up a “download card, a t-shirt, a sticker and a signed photo”.
Whether this is legit or performance art, it’s worthy of a good laugh. Check out the kickstarter here. So far they’ve made $43AUD of their goal. I wonder if they’ll make it?
