Mixcloud has inked a deal with a major label

The go-to platform for mixes, Mixcloud has announced that they have signed a licensing agreement with Warner Music, paving the way for the launch of a paid-subscription service on the website.

Talking about the deal with Resident Advisor, a spokesperson for Mixcloud further confirmed that negotiations are underway to sign similar deals with major music distributing heavyweights Sony and Universal music.

Talking of the deal, co-founder Nikhil Shah said, “this new direct deal will enable to us to offer enhanced functionality, and we will soon be launching a new subscription offering built around individual creator channels. This will be a first-of-its-kind offering in the market.”

Having already taken ground from SoundCloud as the preferred platform of many international DJ’s for uploading entire mixes, it will be interesting to see whether this deal will propel Mixcloud even further.
