Sydney Lockout Laws Dropped For Olympics

The crippling Sydney lockout laws have been relaxed until the completion of the Rio Olympics.

Pubs and clubs that are screening athletes competing for Olympic Gold will be able to extend their hours for eager punters to view the key events from the games.

In a recent statement, Deputy Premier Troy Grant claims “while you might not be able to replicate the atmosphere in Rio, getting down to your local with some friends and cheering on our Aussie heroes has got to be the next best thing.”

Cheers Troy. Nothing quite like a quick reminder of what once was…

As well as city venues, all venues outside the lockout zones will be able to remain open between 4am and 10am on Sunday, August 21, for the Women’s Basketball and Men’s Football finals, as well as an extra hour until 5am on Monday, August 22 for the Men’s Basketball final.

This regulation will be repeated come October for the NRL Grand Final.
