The 80’s Are Back With This Vertical Vinyl Player

The 80’s gave us plenty of great things like house music and fashion but there was also some funky technology that seemingly passed us by such as the vertical vinyl player that Sony tried to push at the time.

Industrial designer Roy Harpaz hasn’t forgotten the idea and has set about designing and selling the ‘Toc’, a vertical player that can spin your new and old 7″, 10″ and 12″ records with a few modern twists.

The turntable uses a digital sensor and linear tracking instead of a needle allowing the user to skip, with remote, to any track on the record – much like this player we looked at last month.

Harpaz’s player also boasts ‘spherical bearings’ so it can play warped records without any troubles, a huge pro over any current system that struggles to track a bent bit of wax.

The only thing we’d like to see is options for the current walnut wood finish, something in black for the deep house guys right?
