Coffee and Beats? Spotify Team Up With Starbucks

Not content with plugging into Uber and making the most of that recent $350 million cash injection Spotify has partnered up with US coffee chain Starbucks.

What does it mean? More listeners and lots of them.

Adding to their existing 60 million users will be 10 million ‘loyal’ Starbucks members and injection into their 7000 company owned stores before a continued roll out in Canada and then the UK.

“For over 40 years, music has played a vital role in Starbucks Third Place experience – inspiring our partners and customers in unexpected ways that have helped to shape the global pop culture.  And we are delighted and honored to bring Spotify directly to our customers,” said Howard Schultz, chairman and ceo of Starbucks.

Even with major streaming player Grooveshark calling it a day, Jay-Z’s struggling TIDAL service and Spotify themselves posting triple losses in the last 12 months it’s a huge move to engage with new streaming users throughout the US.

While we wait for Apples jump into the streaming game it seems as if Spotify have made the largest splash yet.

Will streaming continue?
