Las Vegas bred progressive house producer 3lau has been an artist on the rise since his transition from remixing tracks to producing impressive original tunes. For those of you who don’t know, 3lau grew up dragging through piano lesson like many of us hated as a kid. After hearing dance music while on holiday, he immediately began where any electro newb would: producing mashups in a college dorm.

Earlier this year, after a squabble occurring on Reddit between 3lau and American electro head Wolfgang Gartner, 3lau wowed his fans by uploading a track on Soundcloud he composed titled “Piano Concept,” made up entirely of piano chords. Kicking out the big bass drums, 3lau proved there is harmonic method behind the button pushing.  Acoustic covers, allow producers like 3lau to reach out to a wider audience while also allowing his talent to shine. Perfect song structure and theory prove that DJs are creative, talented, and often classically trained musicians (even the Mau5 has some creativity past just push).

3lau’s biggest track to date, “How You Love Me” was released in earlier this March featuring the powerful, soothing vocals of Bright Lights. Grabbing over 3 million listens, “How You Love Me” has already shown fans that 3lau’s career producing music is just getting geared up. Just when we thought the track couldn’t get any better, 3lau has wowed us by releasing the smooth acoustic take on the big room banger. Now your Grandma can get down to this calm rendition of the hit tune. 

Acoustic modifications of today’s dance music hits have proven to be a hit or miss, depending on how they are producer and what type of acoustic sound the artist is on the hunt for. While they aren’t exactly ideal to be dropped at the festival main stage, they offer a unique, refreshing version of a big one that can be enjoyed in any situation. The track is a beautiful melody that flows like a serene lullaby.
