For those who haven’t seen the photos yet, a horse was in a nightclub on the weekend. Yep. A horse, with a woman riding it, on the dance floor of a nightclub.
As ridiculous as it sounds, it’s true, and the club is paying the price for it in the way of it’s license.
The event took place on Friday night at Miami’s Mokai Lounge, and quickly turned bad. From the ample footage available online, you can see that the horse is quickly spooked given the nature of the situation, and starts bucking it’s hind legs.
Naturally, the news went viral and kickstarted a petition for the venue to be closed down. City Manager Jimmy Morales was quick to jump on board with this, revoking the club’s license due to the sheer amount of evidence recorded displaying animal cruelty.
Morales said he was “disgusted and offended that any legitimate businessperson would think this was an appropriate action to take. This activity was not permitted, and as soon as we became aware, I immediately instructed staff to act swiftly in remedying this situation.”
Mayor Dan Gelber also chimed in on the situation, saying “What kind of idiot would do something like this to an animal and endanger people’s lives at that club? It’s not tolerable, not right, not humane.”
Most importantly, the horse has been found by Miami PD’s animal expert team and is fine. But I think we can safely assume that the horse’s clubbing days are now behind it.
