Kilter Releases First Cut From Debut LP, Announces Countrywide Tour

Fans of Sydney producer turned multi-instrumentalist Kilter have been waiting on an album from the dude for a very long time now. With a stack of originals and remixes already under his belt, and just last year touring Europe over the festival season, it feels only right that that time has come. To celebrate, he’s released a brand new cut from his debut record ‘Through The Distortion’, and announced a national tour.

The track is called ‘I Hear You’, and is about as classic Kilter as you could imagine. Kicking off with some female vocals that we’ve heard in just about every Kilter song ever, it’ll fit right at home on just about every mainstream radio station the world over. While for many that might be a positive thing, it’s frustrating to see that a musician like Kilter has quite obviously become so heavily invested in pandering to an audience. The crazy bass synth fuelling each of the track’s drops is a diamond in some very rough territory, but demonstrates his skill as an instrumentalist with so many years behind him. The man himself says that ‘I Hear You’ was birthed out of a “weird beat idea that I had sidelined for almost a year before it found its feet. My initial writing on this song was focused around the relationship between the growling bass sound and the shifting half time/double time feel in the percussion. It was weird but I felt there was something to it.” Hopefully we get a little more of that kind of thought on the LP.

To coincide with the release of the record, Kilter will be touring his world famous live show across the country for his Through The Distortion Tour. Supports are being filled by Brisbane dude Feki and Melbourne duo ALTA – absolutely not one to miss. Find full dates below, and get tickets over at Kilter’s website.
