These Headphones Turn Off When Your Name Is Called

Amazon has been granted the patent to develop headphones that turn off when your users name is called.

These ‘smart’ noise-cancelling headphones literally turn off when specific sounds or keywords are made out, as a way to protect the user from potential danger.

The patent was originally filed in 2014. This diagram displays how it works:

The diagram displays how the headphones work, which is by using small microphones in the earpads that pick up background sounds. A technology similar to Amazon’s Echo speaker.

Despite being granted the patent, this doesn’t mean the headphones will make it to the market, however it would be pretty bloody cool!
