Stream Groundislava’s New Album ‘Frozen Throne’

The latest instalment into the impressive musical resume of Groundislava is upon us, with his new album ‘Frozen Throne’ available to stream and pre-order now.

This third LP from the Los Angeles producer – to be released with Friends of Friends – has been in the works for a while now; with hype building after the release of his ‘Feel the Heat’ EP a few months back, which worked as the perfect entree for his highly anticipated new album.

The album itself is a soothing listen. It takes you into the cyber world that Groundislava has created from his musical and visual imagination, with these mystical, experimental sounds that would seem to fit perfectly into a Sci-Fi motion picture. Songs like ‘The Descent’ and ‘October Acid’, in particular, seem to mirror Groundislava’s interest and inspiration of fantasy and science fiction, as well as the visual aesthetic of the album artwork that utilises deep green’s and adopts a very robotic style.

A big component of this album is also the collaboration with fellow LA native Rare Times, who lays down his vocals on a handful of songs, including the previously released ‘Feel The Heat’, and the title track ‘Frozen Throne’. Rare Times’ mysterious, and captivating voice intertwines magnificently with Groudnislava’s production style, and is just what this album needed to stand out as a whole.

As a collective of songs, ‘Frozen Throne’ tends to take your imagination on a journey through a computerised, futuristic utopia that would likely fit perfectly into a video game. It is also quite clear that Groundislava’s musical skill-set has come a long way since his first, self-titled album in 2011.

Stream ‘Frozen Throne’ below, and tell us what you think.
