2014 is shaping up to be the year that Canadian duo Chromeo re-assert themselves as the kings of electro-funk-wizadry (as if there was any doubt). The end of 2013 saw the release of a couple of tasty treats in the form of singles “Sexy Socialite” and “Over Your Shoulder”; however, the latest track featuring the talents of Toro Y Moi, “Come Alive”, is without a doubt the best of the three singles to appear from their highly anticipated fourth studio album. Toro’s soft key influences are clearly evident. His delicate voice is the real highlight here, as the track moves away from the more brash synth work on previous records. It truly is a summertime fun jam!
We’re still uncertain of an official release date for White Women; yet, “Come Alive” indicates that the duo won’t be deviating from the proven success of their early 90’s-funk-groove sound they’ve mastered over the last decade. Off the back of their work with Toro, we are now super pumped about potential collabs that could be popping up on the record!
