’20 Electrostatic Soundfields’ has just been released on Soma Records, and is Rob Modell a.k.a DeepChord‘s third full-length record for the imprint. His work has gradually shifted from Detroit to Europe, each time getting seemingly more expirmental and conceptual – the 20-track LP is full of quick “audio sculptures” taken from Modell’s video soundtrack and installation music made between 2008 and 2012. Those looking for his signature dub house anchors may be disappointed, but these tracks epitomise DeepChord at his most intimate and fascinating, using granular synthesis and generative software to unfold his analogue source material and field recordings into ghostly clouds of hiss and morphing bass geometries. Perfect for late night immersion.

DeepChord is also putting out a special CD+DVD package featuring a DVD compiling some of his visual work accompanied by a unique ambient soundtrack – this is strictly limited to 300 copies.
