Daft Punk vocalist Romanthony passes away

Romathony, veteran house producer and vocalists for Daft Punks seminal hit “One More Time” has passed away aged 45.

It was earlier this month that Anthony Moore (real name) was found dead with his sister confirming the passing via Facebook with friends and collaborators Boys Noize and MikeQ also paying their respects.

Further adding to the tragedy was news that Boys Noize and the house producer were working on a track together; “Romanthony and me were working on such an amazing song together. he said it was the best song he had ever written.”

Although not many would know, Romanthony was behind the vocals for one of Daft Punks bigger tracks “One More Time” along with Todd Edwards who also featured on Discovery.

“We met him at the 1996 Winter Music Conference and became friends,” de Homem-Christo said of Romanthony in a 2001 interview. “What’s odd is that Romanthony and Todd Edwards [who is featured on the “Discovery” track “Face To Face”] are not big in the United States at all. Their music had a big effect on us. The sound of their productions — the compression, the sound of the kick drum and Romanthony’s voice, the emotion and soul — is part of how we sound today. Because they mean something to us, it was much more important for us to work with them than with other big stars.”

Todd Edwards recently contributed to the long-standing Essential Mix series, featuring a new edit Daft Punks’ “Get Lucky”.
