Sydney express way to be transformed into week long party spot

The Cahill Expressway is an urban freeway that offers drivers a connection to cross the Harbour Bridge. In a Sydney first, the expressway that has a great view of the Harbour Bridge will be shut from traffic and converted into a seven-day end of year event.

From Friday, December 31st to Thursday, January 6th, the long strip of freeway overlooking a panoramic view of Sydney’s icons will host markets, pop-up food stalls, bars and a performance stage with artists yet to be announced.

The event is a part of $200 million in State Government funding, put towards securing global events for Sydney and the rest of the state. This change of tune from the NSW Liberal Government is welcomed after a devastatingly harsh number of years destroying nightlife and the arts sector through their pro Casino & pro Lockout Law policy.

This event might be the perfect excuse for you to check your eligibility for the proposed Thank God It’s Friday vouchers following on from the Dine & Discover scheme.
