Late night live music bar to open where Freda’s once stood

Tucked away on the edge of Chippendale is a little laneway where the entry to the Sydney famous Freda’s Bar once stood. Night dwellers will be delighted to hear that the bar hasn’t been converted into a developers block of apartments. It is in fact being re-incarnated as ‘The Barrie’. A bar that promises late nights, live music and cool drinks.

Set to open in early June, the new licensed venue will have a capacity for 120 people and can trade up until 4am. Taking some of the ethos of its predecessor, The Barrie will have DJs playing on Fridays and Saturdays until 3:30am and will be stocking exclusively Australian beer and wines, as well as all your favourite cocktail offerings.

In terms of live music, the new owner Chris Garner quoted to Boothby that their policy, to begin with, will be “swing, blues and early rock”.

The Barrie is set to open on Fridays the 4th of June at 107-109 Regent Street, Chippendale. Follow them on Instagram.
