For the latest instalment of ‘news you thought you’d never see but are all the more better off for finding out about’, legendary composer Wolfgang Mozart has capped Drake, Beyoncé and Kanye for the most CD sales of 2016.
Despite being dead for 225-years, the Austrian composer and house-hold name reached an impressive 1.25 million sales of his new box set package since the end of October, as reported by Billboard.
The box set in question was literally released less than two months ago, and was dropped to celebrate his outstanding catalogue of ‘beats’ all these years on after his death.
Made up of 200 individual CD’s, Mozart 225 was produced by Decca and Deutsche Grammophon in collaboration with the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, and has been declared the “most authoritative, complete and scholarly box set ever devoted to the work of a single composer”.
