It goes without saying that a DJ’s biggest goal is topping a list in the later months of the year, right? Well, no, it’s not the case.
However, there is nothing quite like receiving a little tip of the hat from your peers in the industry, which seems to be the angle Beatport is taking with their new ‘Best of The Year’ list that kicked off this week.
The electronic music online store – that recently got close and personal with ‘underground’ music – launched their new annual listing with the aim of taking fandom out of the equation and instead asking the artists themselves to take a look at their fellow selectors and give an honest opinion.
The list is broken up into genres including tech house, techno, drum ‘n’ bass, electro, indie dance + nu disco and more, with nominees ranging from the likes of Claude VonStroke, Eats Everything, Nicole Moudaber, Audion, Carl Craig, A-Trak, KiNK, Bicep, Dixon and DJ Koze.
