Beatport and Anjunabeats are on the hunt for the next big thing

In phase two of Beatport’s Beats In School competition, ambitious DJ’s and producers will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be mentored by the legends at UK record label Ajunabeats, the love child of iconic trance trio Above and Beyond.

So what are they on the hunt for? Label director Allan McGrath says that “Musicality, melody, emotion, integrity and originality are just some of the things we look for when signing new music. Ultimately, we’re always looking for music that will move the scene forward and stand the test of time.”

To get started, producers should create a track that emulates the vibe of the Anjunabeats label, and pop the track within a DJ mix, uploaded on Mixcloud. From there, 20 participants will be chosen, which will then narrow down to just one.

That person will receive a year long mentorship with Anjunabeats, as well as the opportunity to play a set at a label showcase, and release a tune on the label. They’ll also be able to amp up their studio game, with some complimentary gear from Native Instruments, Pioneer, Roland, and Novation. Their music will be pushed with coordinated exposure by Beatport, Future Music Magazine, and Computer Music Magazine.

Not too shabby hey? If you’re keen to enter, check out the official submission page, along with more info here. Peep the announcement video below.
