Five Factors That Helped Shape Oshan’s ‘Most At Home’ EP

If you haven’t heard of Oshan yet, then consider this your introduction.

The Northern Beaches based producer has been steadily chipping away over the past year, creating a crisp, original sound that is reflective of the vivid and creative lifestyle Riley Wingfield leads.

Following the release of his new 4-track EP ‘Most at Home‘ last week via Roche Musique, we caught up with Oshan to pick his brain and find out what helped shape this stellar project.

1. Juno 106
Most of my songs start with me playing chords & fiddling with this amazing synth I purchased a few years ago. And there is a bit of Juno across the EP.
I owe a lot to my Juno.

2. Coffee
The gods themselves know coffee beans definitely helped in shaping my EP and taking ideas to different places that I wouldn’t normally go. Every song on my EP is (feat. Coffee).

3. Tame Impala – Currents
At the time this record came out my perception of my own production changed a lot and it inspired me in terms of my sound design & drum programming/drum sounds.
Thank you Kevin!!

4. Blender (Graphics Software)
The direction for the artwork started with me finding lots and lots of different modern architectured homes created digitally in blender. I then took that idea to my designer who got the idea out of my head into graphic form and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

5. My home
Excuse the cheesy reference. My home is in a very beachy suburb in Sydney which is somewhat reflected in this EP. I always like to use bright synths and percussions and of course all of the songs from the EP were written in my bedroom at home!
