5 Artists That Helped Forge Tobiahs’ Sound

Having premiered his new release ‘Through To You‘ last week, we thought we should delve a little deeper into the music of Melbourne’s most exciting up-and-coming producer, Tobiahs.

With a truly unique take on electronic music and production in general, it comes as no surprise that Tobiahs’ musical style spawns from a wide range of artists. In no particular order, here are his five picks for those who had the biggest impact on his own sound.

Jai Paul

Personally my favourite artist. Crafted such an influential sound through such a small body of work. BTSTU changed everything for me. I really hope he returns one day, still feel he has a much bigger impact to make.

Hermitude were one of the reasons I started producing. Will always keep me inspired by what they’ve done for Electronic Hip-Hop in Australia. HyperParadise was one of two albums which kick started this whole music thing for me. The other being Justice’s ‘Cross’ album.

Jamie xx

I’ve always loved Garage and how artist’s experiment with the sound. Jamie Xx has the most amazing and distinctive drum hits, lush textures and sounds I don’t think anybody will ever be able to accurately replicate. His video for “Gosh” is one of the best music clips I’ve seen.

Be sure to go and give his latest single ‘Through To You‘ a listen right here.
