Gold Panda Goes To Japan, Comes Back With New Record

Gold Panda travelled to Japan in 2014 to film and collect sounds recordings for an audio-visual documentary of his travels there. He came back with the idea and the inspiration to write his forthcoming album, Good Luck And Do Your Best, which is set to be released May 27th on City Slang via Inertia.

Derwin has said before that “You don’t control the music you make. The tracks need to reveal themselves”. This album represents a prime example of the artist’s mantra and he has just released a video for ‘Pink & Green’, the first single off the new album.

Laura Lewis accompanied Derwin to Japan to capture material for the documentary. What we see in the music video is a snapshot of the experiences that the two had and an insight into what inspired the sound of the record.

An album that came almost by mistake, and with an album title that Derwin says came from a friendly goodbye from a Japanese taxi driver, this album is just one big coincidence and one we are very keen to hear the rest of.
