Melbourne 2-piece Hoodlem have just released their new single, ‘Kintsugi’.
This slow, ambient jam is a perfect fusion of soul music and electronica, with echoed vocals bouncing off a stripped back instrumental that subtly progresses into quite a powerful track.
Hoodlem – who we discovered last year with their impressive experimental sound with ‘Old Friend’ – wrote ‘Kintsugi’ while staying in New York, and “brimming with seductive energy”. The pair express that this new song is about the “collapse of a relationship”, and taking such “breakage and repair as a history rather than something to disguise, all the while explaining yourself with a big F*** you! attitude”.
Sounds about right when you listen to the track!
‘Kintsugi’ is the first cut off Hoodlem’s highly anticipated debut EP, which they revealed to be dropping sometime in March. That’s not too far away!
