Daft Punk right hand man Nile Rodgers has enlisted two dance personalities for the first single from CHIC’s forthcoming album.
The funky cut dubbed “I’ll Be There” is actually an old reworking of Sister Sledges 1980’s hummer “Love Somebody Today” and uses the energy and percussion from famed duo The Martinez Brothers.
Rodgers explains;
“The outtake became a new song called, ‘I’ll Be There’, so named because when I discovered my band’s co-founder Bernard Edwards’ body a few hours after he’d passed away, I said, “Now, I can be there for you in death, the way you were there for me in life.”
Disco never dies right?
The Martinez Brothers have earned their chops over the last decade with their energetic live show and crowd control. They also recently released “Space & Time” with Future Music Festival tripper Seth Troxler.
The full vocal version will land March 20th so in the meantime enjoy the instrumental below.
