Triple J heroes Snakadaktal call it quits

It is with sadness and regret that we tell you of the announcement indie pop lords Snakadaktal made via their Facebook page today. After releasing their debut album ‘Sleep In The Water‘ last August as well as winning Triple J’s ‘Unearthed High’ competition back when they formed in 2009, the Australian five-piece just passed the word of their retirement as a group by proclaiming their time has ‘come to an end’ in order for each member to pursue personal interests. While there’s been no official reason for their split, this is what they shared today:

Dearest friends, it saddens us to share with you that Snakadaktal has come to an end. Since we were 15, we have been sharing our passion for music together. Today, collectively, we feel that it is time to move onto different pursuits that we each individually wish to explore. Our goal has always been to create music that exists timelessly. We hope that what we have released will accompany you and be there for as long as you need it. It is yours to keep. We are proud of ourselves and feel fulfilled. It has been a journey we will treasure forever. Thank you. Always. Love Snakadaktal

The band had just played at Melbourne’s Mountain Sounds Festival and were also scheduled to perform at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on March 29 alongside World’s End Press. It’s a sad day today, ’cause if you haven’t caught them live before you might never be able to. ☹
