Deep-diving dungeon dubstep from American stepper AxH for his debut release on London’s legendary Tempa. Following imprint efforts last year from the likes of New Zealand bros Truth, Killawatt & Ipman, J:Kenzo and Nomine just to name a few, the newest Tempa release sees four low-slung, rolling takes on the dubstep sound: lead track ‘Destroy’ matches its name, lumbering from speaker stacks in a barrage of crumpling percussion while ‘Everdine’ is atmospheric, cinematic halfstep that plumbs sinister psychic depths. ‘Giant Footprints’ is remarkable – mechanic and robotic in tone, its percussion is as hard yet flexible as tensile steel, lashing out against pinprick melody lines, while ‘I Feel Safe’ starts off ghostly through female vocals before heading into low-heavy skanker territory.
