Killawatt – Bring Down The Walls [Osiris Music]

Kryptic MindsOsiris Music have recently released one of their most ambitious yet in Killawatt‘s experimentally haunting ‘Bring Down The Walls’, after showcasing Kaiju‘s enormous ‘M16 / Clang’ single. Being one of the current scene’s brightest and most prolific, this time he blends mutations of mad techno / dubstep / jungle and electronica after a string of less far-reaching offerings earlier this year, like the ‘Darkplace / Sur Place’ 12″ with Ipman for Tempa as well as his ‘Killa Dinna / Killa Inna Jungle’ 10″ for Osiris’ smoked-out sub-label Ruff Cut. But his latest EP darts across the dancefloor no-mans-land into 4/4 techno, moody electronica and noisy bass experiments, reeling between the sub-heavy slammer of ‘Highway Hypnosis’ to the industrial, noise abstraction of ‘Backed Into A Fucked Up Recess’. It pushes the electronic boundaries of his previous work – the flipside also offers the techno mettle of the Regis-styled burn of ‘Jack And His Magic Beans’, the Mark Broom-esque ‘1625’ and the infected industrialism of ‘Square Trip (Round Trip)’.

‘Bring Down The Walls’ is a weird release even for the most experimental, and the walls are most certainly down. Head down, lights off vibe.
