Pompeya – 90 (Fred Falke Remix)

The Andy Kaufman of dance music is back baby! After surviving a scary, mysterious kidnapping by Katy Perry and other artists of her ilk, Monsieur Falke has again emerged from the clouds, and returned to old form. Gone is the Falke of questionable remix choices, presumably prompted by a less than choice management team, and back is the Falke circa Bliss and 8:08 PM on the Beach.

From the first dark, eery piano chord, you know that Falke is no longer funking around and means business once again–and it’s refreshing. Thereafter, the song drifts into the familiar, groovy synth-laden burner Falke’s rightly become renowned for. It feels weird and makes me feel old saying this, but the Falke of the pre-Nu Disco/recycled loop craze has returned.

It’s not “Golden Cage,” but then again, not much is. If this is a harbinger of things to come (8:08 AM on the Beach?), then we’re all getting laid:
