Techno wonder-woman Laurel Halo will be releasing her newest full-length ‘Chance Of Rain’ later this month, following on from last year’s ‘Quarantine’ and a couple of smaller EPs. According to a press release, the album collects expansions on live, improvised work, incorporating “moments of movement and stillness, psychedelia and presence of mind”, and for anybody unfamiliar with Halo, the record is dark, malevolent, weird and obtuse – but amidst all the oddities it proffers you’ll still be hypnotised onto the dancefloor. The first single ‘Ainnome’ sounded like the ghost of Detroit techno chasing you through an abandoned catacomb, and now the whole LP is streaming over at Pitchfork Advance.
‘Chance Of Rain’ is out October 28 on Kode 9‘s Hyperdub.
