FKJ – Time For A Change EP

Like all music posted on Stoney…it’s a HARD TEN.

Less than a year after bursting onto the scene with the very impressive “The Twins” EP, Parisian French Kiwi Juice has struck gold once again, delivering a stellar fusion of Disco, Funk and a slice of Trip Hop with “Time For A Change.” Equal parts Goldroom and Pretty Lights, FKJ is very much onto something special with this sound, one that aligns well with fellow up-and-comers Snakehips, Kartell, and even Bondax.

While FKJ certainly hones in on the tropical feel of Nu Disco and makes use of some Trip Hop glitch, he does so in a tasteful, eloquent way, maintaining a balanced integrity and cutting out the cheese. And in these watered down times, FKJ brings a fresh sound to drowning ears. Exquisitely sampled and soulfully electronic, you probably won’t find this EP on hthe Beatport Top 100…But really, you should.

If you somehow missed FKJ’s Jet Jam mix, it is a legitimate candidate for Funk mix of the year and includes a to-die-for FKJ edit:
