Bob Marley’s ‘Legend’ Meets ‘EDM’ with Official Remix Album [Featuring Pretty Lights, Thievery Corporation, RAC, and More!]

Ring the bells because Tuff Gong is rising! While Bob Marley–arguably the most symbolic musician of all time–will not be rising from his ashes (we can dream about a hologram), we’re getting the next best thing: his music modernized. Sir Irie will have his iconic 1984 album ‘Legend’ re-interpreted for the  with remixes from a host of veteran and modern dance producers.

The decision from Marley’s estate was certainly extremely difficult and will no doubt face criticism from many of his fans (as a money grab–it’s being placed in Hyundai ads). But  one must hope the reasoning behind it is also from the heart–because this man’s work deserves another life.

From Pretty Lights to Nickodemus (this will be good) to Thievery Corporation to Beats Antique to…wait…RAC, there are a lot of remixes on this album to look forward to hearing–and maybe a couple that could be a little scary. The dub and tribal themes found at the core of many of these musicians make them sensible choices, while RAC is a beautiful name to see, because you just know he crushed it.

The term “EDM” used in the title is thankfully misleading, as mainstream electronic producers were fortunately spared from this process.
