Falls Festival announce tropical water park!

Words by Sinead Nolan

Falls Festival have announced that a tropical-themed waterpark will be added to the Byron Bay event this year.

The music and arts festival features a scorching hot line-up of acts like Foals, Disclosure, Bloc Party and Peking Duk. If festivalgoers needed another reason to road trip out to Byron Bay, the sonic waterpark could just be that reason.

The custom waterpark has been termed Palm Springs, set to cool punters down with attractions like a 20 metre long nine-metre-tall, two-lane water slide. Four huge infinity pools and mushroom fountains will accompany the water slide – but fear not, before worries of festival looseness worries you – trained life guards will be at hand to make sure everything runs smoothly.

And while we’ve been protesting against the infamous shirtless festival punter, it seems like this may just be their one lucky break.

According to the event organisers, Palm Springs will be characterised by a retro style, recreating the vibes of the “very best ‘80s Californian resorts”. Further, the waterpark will be booming party music to suit the tropical theme.

The event runs from December 31st 2015 to January 3rd 2016.

What attraction could be announced next? Fingers crossed it is just as impressive as Palm Springs.
