Mickey Kojak switches things up on new single ‘Ghost’

Words by Max Jacobson

Mickey Kojak comes from Sydney does a 180-spin on his and brings us some quirky indie-tronica on his new single ‘Ghost‘. Following the release of his club-banger ‘Save Your Breath’ which put his name on the map by garnering heavy rotation on radio and digital platforms, he tones everything down and shows us a new side to his musicianship.

It’s subtle, it’s smooth, it probably won’t be best suited for the nightclub, which is certainly a different angle than what we’re used to from this producer. But we can confidently say that Kojak pulls this off perfectly, and lets his songwriting ability shine as it carries this well-crafted indie-pop inspired tune. The track is a bit of a slow burner, but instead of building up to a massive drop, the song grows and builds on it’s hook and synth-riff. It’s an engaging listen, and definitely a milestone for Kojak as a musician, hopefully he continues down this route in the future because we are definitely on board with it.

‘Ghost’ is a taste off Kojak’s upcoming 7-track EP that we don’t have a title for yet, but is due out later this year on ONELOVE. Catch him playing all over Australia with Motez and Tirgerilla over the next two weeks, just expect to see him more guitars and synths than usual with a totally different vibe.
