NEW: Collarbones – Only Water (feat. Oscar Key Sung)

Hell yeah, we’ve got the first post of Collarbones’ new one “Only Water” featuring equal parts talent Oscar Key Sung who recently dropped into the Outsidein Festival lineup alongside The Pharcyde and Pantha Du Prince.

Their latest treads new ground for the duo in using synths having been built from a single keyboard line before being “fleshed out with all of the bells and whistles we could muster” and the intro of OKS’s vocals.

You’d be hard pressed not have your head bopping before long with a warm, paddy opener before a run of nonchalantly structured goodness and arching vocals – about 100% sure we want to hear this live!

Marcus, one half of Collarbones digresses on the track and their founding relationship that was sparked on Myspace way back in 2006;

We’ve always prided ourselves on avoiding synths, preferring to cut sonics from the digital ether, but for the first time, on this album, we have tried to combine a number approaches to filling out a song’s body. “Only Water” was one such song, which was built from a keyboard line recorded live, then fleshed out with all of the bells and whistles we could muster. Oscar’s contribution seemed inevitable from the start – even the vocal lines were inspired by work he had shown me over the past year. Oscar and I have had something of a symbiotic relationship since we first met over Myspace in 2006, we’ve collaborated on everything from improvised drone to, now, this hyper colour pop track, and all along the way i’ve felt inspired his mind-blowing innovations in every musical avenue.

It’ll find itself on their debut album ‘Return’ due out November 28th on Two Bright Lakes/Remote Control Records.
