PSA Aussies Abroad: Beware, ‘Bath Salts’ Abound In Ibiza

In horribly exciting news the United Nations crowned Australia as the leading poppers of party prescriptions. Great job! 2.9% of Aussies over 15 are reportedly dabbling in the dingers, which ranks us ahead of the Czechs (coming in second with a measly 2.2%), the US, England and France. Lick em’.

But where do such devastating habits derive from? Ostensibly it can be pinpointed on teenage kids at dirty raves with their fake ID’s getting hooked on cheap whizz and a good time. Ultimately these youngsters chase the bright lights of abroad, notably the good stuff that can be found littered on the streets and throughout the throbbing mega-clubs of the White Isle. That’s right, Ibiza and the Balearic Islands of Spain, the righteous homeland of pingers.

So here’s our public service announcement for those about to hit the shores of this fabled exotic party plantation – we have word that there is some bad red rope liquorice circulating in the crowd!

Reports have indicated that Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV for short) is being distributed to munted punters living it up in the Balearics, often disguised as ecstasy or MDMA Symptoms of MDPV use include extreme outbursts of violence, paranoia and panic attacks. That’s right, the colloquial term for MDPV is ‘Bath Salts’, the drug that takes ‘chewing your face off’ to a whole other level.

Police suspect that the devastating drug is being peddled following a large shipment that arrived within the last month, which has resulted in four people being hospitalised. The drug is being popularly referred to as ‘Cannibal’. In a terrifying example of what the drug is capable of, one British man had to be restrained by eight police officers after going on a Suarez like rampage on a popular tourist beach, attempting to bite anyone who got in his way, including the officers restraining him (see picture below).

Ibiza health chiefs have advised all tourists to steer clear of any synthetic looking substances, as they believe that British holidaymakers in particular are being targeted as guinea pigs. The stigma surrounding the Islands as party drug mecca is under increasing scrutiny from British officials. An enhanced awareness of tourists illegal activities comes off the back of an inquiry into the disturbing viral video of an 18-year-old British girl performing sexual favours for 24-men, such that she could claim a free drink.

Essentially, as Australians we have an inherent predisposition to have a bloody good time, as outlined above. However, it is strongly urged that you take serious care if you’re heading over to Ibiza for the European summer. If you’re buying anything make sure that you or someone you trust can identify it. Or, just don’t buy anything at all. If you want to have a cheap good time at a massive rave, then maybe Ibiza – which is famous for its exorbitant drinks and entry prices – isn’t the place for you.
