Diplo and Questlove Spearheading New Music TV Show

You’re on the air sledgod! Diplo, undoubtedly the busiest man in dance music, is adding television hosting duties to his already impressive resume. The increasingly ubiquitous Mad Decent boss is taking his talents to VH1 and Palladia for a new show entitled SoundClash that is set to showcase some big name muso’s popping in for a chat and a sing-song. The Root’s percussion wizard Questlove has taken on executive producer duties for the new show, adding to his nightly role on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

Tom Calderone, VH1 president, stated: “SoundClash will showcase established acts at their peak, spotlight breaking artists on the rise, and introduce what’s breaking on the music scene at that moment.” SoundClash is set to premier on July 23 with big names Lil Wayne, Fall Out Boy and London Grammar featuring, with Ed Sheeran, Sia and Grouplove to follow. Not really the type of musicians we’re used to Diplo exposing via his popular radio program ‘Diplo and Friends’ on BBC Radio 1, but reportedly the show will routinely feature three music acts sharing the stage, performing individually and collaboratively, which is kind of cool… we guess. Calderone added that “the collaborative spirit between the performers on the show…will have music fans buzzing throughout the telecast and for days afterwards.”

Apparently, and hopefully, the show is also envisioned to act as a platform to spotlight breaking artists on the rise. Fingers crossed Diplo can give a shout out to some of the great things going on in the thriving Australian dance scene! Either way, Diplo’s getting closer and closer to world domination.
