After a decade of involvement with one of the main foundational grime groups and following the critically acclaimed ‘White Label Classics’ compilation, Ruff Sqwad member Prince Rapid is finally set to release his ‘Turning Point’ EP as the first outing for the new Ruff Sqwad Entertainment. It’ll be out March 31, and as FACT said, the Prince is one of the key producers behind the East London grime crew’s emotive, influential sound – the release will see collaborations with the likes of Tinchy Stryder, JME, Ghetts, Lil Nasty, Dirty Danger and additional production from Heavy Trackers and Teddy, while also boasting homage to hip-hop, electronica and Ghanaian influences embedded in those unavoidable grime roots.

Having worked with dons like Dizzee Rascal, Tinie Tempah, fellow group member Tinchy Stryder and Future Brown (aka Fatima Al Qadiri, Nguzunguzu and Lit City Trax’s J-Cush), Rapid is no rookie to the scene, and with subject matter covering a variety of social subjects including family life, growing up, personal struggles and the industry, he summarises:

This EP is very eclectic, representing me as an artist and a person, and is just a taste of what’s to come. I’ve been doing music for over ten years now. I’ve produced, rapped, and more recently sung on more tracks than you could imagine. I’ve experimented with different sounds, I’ve made singles, I’ve made mixtapes, and I’ve experienced some success whilst working behind the scenes for other people. But now, I’m ready to show the world me, my growth and who I’ve become.
