Flying Lotus to Score Indie Film ‘Imperial Dreams’

We all wish the tunes of LA beat master Flying Lotus was the soundtrack to our life like it were in GTA V but until that becomes a technological reality (we’re thinking 2024 Steven?) we’re going to have to settle for the artist’s ‘inspired rhythmic’ soundtrack to upcoming film Imperial Dreams, the directorial debut of Malik Vittal.

Malik Vitthal’s radiant debut feature leavens hardcore gangster life with a warm and earnest humanity. Featuring a breakout performance by John Boyega as Bambi and an inspired rhythmic score by composer Flying Lotus, Imperial Dreams ignites a passion for redemption that transcends circumstance.

Set to open at Sundance this year FlyLo has a stacked 2014 on the cards already including the anticipated fifth LP to see the light of day before the year is out, a fresh mixtape under his Captain Murphy moniker, a buzzing touring schedule including an Australian national run, as well as a run of extra production work in the pipeline teased with a goodie bag bundle of beats for the fans last month. Lets hope that sketchy moment of watching a man die before his set at HARD in August has passed as well as the Youtube Movie Awards he wasn’t overly impressed about.

Australian fans can catch FlyLo at these dates around the country –

Flying Lotus 2014 Australian Tour Dates
February 28 – The Forum, Melbourne
March 6 – The HiFi, Brisbane
March 7 – The Astor, Perth
March 9 – Sydney Opera House, Sydney
