Flying Lotus Rags on YouTube Music Awards

In the next case of a bag of mixed reactions, Californian Producer/Rapper Flying Lotus has spoken out on Twitter against the YouTube Music Awards, set to air from the site on November 3.

The awards, which aims to be the new ‘by the people, for the people’ fan-based awards ceremony will be hosted in New York City by beardy heartthrob actor Jason Schwartzman. Organisers have managed to grab a mixed bag of performers for the event including M.I.A, Earl Sweatshirt, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Tyler the Creator and Arcade Fire.

Seemingly unimpressed however, Lotus challenged the reasons for the whole thing on twitter today.

Accusing YouTube of simply pegging acts that are already popular in an abuse of commercial power, Lotus continued;

Before doing the obligatory Kanye move,

When considering the categories for awards (below), we kind of see where Lotus is coming from. It seems that the state of popular music awards is pretty dismal as a whole (pretty sure J-Lo took a tumble weed as her date to the last Grammys). But hey, as long as we don’t see any twerking, that’s an improvement right…right…?

Certainly ain’t no Aria’s… Trol. Lets just worship a lock of Flume’s hair.
