Club-night/label Leisure System hit up their finest issue by miles – three tracks of sinuous eski tessellations by the inimitable Visionist. His highly anticipated Snakes EP exemplifies his advances in the art of quicksilver grime syncopation and ultra-vivid, unstable arrangement, firing off with the gunshot grammar and side-winding synth resonance of ‘Snakes’, and building the kind of optimised kick-snare sleights and robotic funk in ‘Snakebite’ that works it hard from South London to Berlin. Our favourite, however, is the mix of John Carpenter cue-styled stabs and bouncing subs woven to intricate, Zomby-like helix on ‘Poison’. Recommended!
