Duke Dumont ft. A*M*E has served up one of 2013’s coolest jams in the way of ‘Need U (100%)’.

Debuting as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune, the track has already been spun by all the major players across the board in the UK and this week sits at #1 on the mid-week charts. The producer, whose early career was mentored by Switch (former Major Lazer member, last sighted producing for Beyoncé) has made a name for himself as the ‘go-to’ man to remake pop songs for the dance floor (Lily Allen and Bat For Lashes were notable clients).

In 2011, he moved out of London to the countryside to focus on his original material. ‘Need U (100%)’ features 18-year-old starlet A*M*E*. With a chunky low-end, funky stabs and silky vocals, this is like an early ‘90s house classic couched in 2013. I like to bracket this track as sitting under the contemporary alternative to pop that is outdoing commercial music at the moment. Doing dance fans proud Duke!
