The story of dirtybird Records is the quintessential “come up” tale of a few friends with a dream who started small and made it big…really big. What began in 2003 as an effort to push the boundaries of house music in San Francisco quickly grew into a movement and style of its own, into what we now know as that funky, ass shaking dirtybird sound. With the original core members still going strong, the label has expanded to include talent from across the globe, from fresh, young faces like Justin Jay, as well as seasoned vets on the path of reinvention like Shadow Child (once Dave Spoon).

A true milestone for any artist or label–and perhaps one of the most prestigious accolades–is to have a dedicated weekly party in the world’s clubbing mecca. Dirtybird has finally reached that pinnacle at the historical Sankeys Ibiza, starting with their opening party on June 27th, the imprint’s first ever European residency. Label boss Claude VonStroke is no stranger to the White Isle, and has been performing there for nearly a decade. He’ll be headlining the opener alongside labelmates Justin Martin, Catz ‘N Dogz, Kill Frenzy and Bones, as well as 11 out of the 12 nights of the party’s duration.

“I’ve been playing Ibiza for 8 years from DC10 to We Love Space and I am really excited to break new ground and start our own dirtybird label night at Sankeys. We have always had a very tight knit family vibe at dirtybird and this summer will continue our ethos of fun and approachable artists who love their fans. All of our line-ups are booked with artists who have appeared on the label at some point. It’s a very international bunch and I think dirtybird will be a great addition to the amazing parties coming up this summer.
